I was excited to upgrade from a whistle 3 to a whistle go explore. And the reason I was upgrading was because my whistle 3 stopped charging, which I later found out was a glitch. The Go Explore seemed a great fit. I was so excited about the 20 day battery life. Unfortunately I have had to charge twice in the two weeks I’ve had it not including the initial charge. AND when I plug the charger into the whistle, it only goes in half way. Also, I am awakened most nights that my dog, who is in her crate beside me, is 100 feet away from home. Thankfully she comes back to me later on in the middle of the night. I would sure like some help from the Whistle company.Went to the on line chat and it was a Bot asking me questions. . . Repeatedly. Please tell me this is a glitch and that this item will be even better than the Whistle 3. Or I will have to return and buy another whistle 3.I would like to add that the tech support contacted me immediately which is truly a credit to them. They suggested I expand my ‘home’ safe place which needed to be done. I’m hoping that this and setting the WiFi to my home WiFi will help the battery life and the middle of the night false alarms. Their response and my happiness with my prior Whistle 3 has changed my two stars to three. I’m hoping it will change to a five.Another update...With the help of Whistle’s fabulous tech support we resolved an issue that was my mistake. I had my home safe place setting too small. It did not cover my entire property. This has been addressed and I no longer get false alarms in the middle of the night. Another issue may be because I set up my dog’s Whistle at work and it paired with that WiFi as the main connection. My dog goes to work with me every day which is another ‘safe place’ for her. The information the tech support had was that we were only in our primary safe place 40% of the time. This tells me I spend way too much time at work!! So, tonight I have reset my dog’s Whistle to home as the primary safe place. Also, I was worried that the charge connection was too shallow. See my photo. I was told that that is the way it works and to not push it in further as it will damage the charge port. So, because of all the help I’ve received from Whistle’s tireless tech support I will now give four stars. The last issue I have is the battery life. I am charging every five days. We are hoping with the primary WiFi reset this will improve. It may not reach 20 days as advertised as I am in a rural location and my dog travels with me most days. I’m hoping for more than the five days. If it increases I would not hesitate to give Whistle 5 stars. Fingers crossed.Final update. It’s been a week now since I last charged and we are at 66%! Yay! Thank you to Miranda from the support team. She was with me on this journey helping me get things right. I am now absolutely pleased with purchase and recommend not only the device but the technical support. Thank you Whistle for my piece of mind.
The Whistle GO Explore tracker has been working well for our family. After reading some reviews about inaccuracy, I tried comparing two different devices since our family has two dogs. Though it doesn't show the exact same route on both devices, it's still fairly accurate since it understandably pings at different times. What's impressive is how the device is able to track the activity of each dog whether they're walking, running, or playing. It's fun to see what the device picks up.What we love about the device is the health monitoring aspect. The Whistle GO Explore actually tells you how much your pet drinks, scratches, licks, and sleeps! While battling the mystery of allergies, we've been able to see how our actions, e.g., giving a bath, impacts our dog's scratching levels. We also love the fitness tracking that's built in. Due to our homebody lifestyles (and the pandemic), our dogs spend a lot of their time hanging out at home. By setting a goal for each of them, we're able to make more conscious efforts in making sure their needs are met.Lastly, the ability to add family members and create shared reminders & to-do's has been super helpful. This helps us keep track of any daily and monthly meds that we need to administer.
I have had my Whistle Go Explore for several weeks so I feel confident enough to write a thorough review. I was extremely skeptical of this type of technology but I took the leap and I’m glad I did. I also bought the collar Whistle specifically makes for housing the GPS/Activity Tracker.Right out of the box, it is ready to go. All you have to do is download the whistle app on your phone, charge the device, and navigate through the initial setup—all done through the Whistle app. Setup is super easy and relatively quick. **Whistle does require a subscription**. That may seem like a draw back but it’s no more than $5 a month. For me, it is worth it for the peace of mind if my dog gets lost.Pros:-durable. The device does show wear after some extensive play but it is purely cosmetic. The plastic used is very strong, light, and water resistant.-accurate. Device is accurate the vast majority of the time. I have ran into some issues where the app took an extensive period of time to load and track his location but after a period of a minute or two it was back working as usual.-easy set up.-tracks fitness levels and sets goals based on weight, age, and breed-tracks scratching and licking. EXTREMELY useful feature. The device tracks how many minutes per day your dog scratches or licks and compares that to a baseline average. If your dog licks or scratches more than usual, the whistle app will notify you. Really useful during flea and tick season. Increased scratching might mean it’s time for a flea treatment.-LED light. Pretty cool feature. LED light is fairly bright at night. It has slow and fast strobe as well as a continuous on mode.Cons:-device does show cosmetic wear after a short period. It does not effect the function of the collar.-Rare connectivity issuesTo summarize: if you are looking to simultaneously attain peace of mind in the event your dog gets lost, track your dogs health, and have a LED light to use at night this is the collar for you. It’s durable, the subscription is not that expensive, and the Whistle collar is perfect for mounting the device. You can use your own collar with the included mounting attachment, but the collar with the receiver specifically made for the device is metal and super strong. The buckle on the collar is also metal. The little loopy thing that you attach leashes to is also metal. It’s nice :) You won’t be disappointed.
I am so pleased with this tracker. I read tons of reviews on the available pet trackers and I was skeptical about ordering this one. They all seemed to have some issue.....but I have been very pleased with the Whistle. It does a great job of keeping up with my busy girl. Once I got it set up on mine and my husband’s phones, it has worked 95% of the time. There have been a couple of times it couldn’t locate her but after a couple of refreshes, it found her. One day, she managed to get her collar off and my husband was able to walk right to the tracker in the middle of a field. The battery life has also been a pleasant surprise because based on the reviews, i didn’t expect it to last long. But that hasn’t been the case. So far, we are charging about every 7 days-which is very manageable to me. She spends about 30% of her time at home on our WiFi network and the other 70% she goes with my husband to work so her collar is not in power saving mode. Considering that, I think 7 days is an acceptable battery life. Not sure if it will work this week for everybody, but it has been a great purchase for our family! Hope this helps!
This is a truly great product. My main reason for buying it is that I have a dog who is a wonderful escape artist. She is also way too fast for me to catch when she gets out the door. This device gives me a lot of peace of mind. The battery life is incredible and easily lasts us a full month. The battery life drops when we go on long hikes or to places without WiFi, but still has a longer lasting battery than any other device I own. I also love that I can track my dog’s activity levels with the Whistle, which makes it easier for me to know if we should try to get another fetch session in during the evening. I have had a couple of issues that Whistle customer support resolved quickly and easily. I honestly couldn’t have asked for better help. The only downfall of the product is that on occasion the accuracy of location is not great, but this is very rare and has not caused me problems in the 6 or so months I have had it.
